Welcome to Vital Step

In martial arts terms, a vital step re-energizes your stance, strengthens your root so you have maximum power for your next move. Dr. Tennyson Yiu (my teacher) always said: “You cannot use the same stance twice”. The vital step is necessary to reinvigorate your stance and increase your agility as well. A vital step is usually a half step or a quick shuffle of the foot.

What I love most about what I teach is that I guide you through the kung fu or tai chi forms until you have reached an independent state where you no longer need me. It is a gift of life that lasts a lifetime.

There is no expensive equipment to buy. The forms can be done indoors or out. The only thing you need is space. In searching for a space I often find places of tranquility and beauty that greatly contribute to finding the inner peace I’m striving for.

Please enjoy samples of our forms in the gallery which include Hung Gar’s Taming the Tiger, and Taoist Spiritual Tai Chi.
